June 2023 : 8 days
Guten Abend! We are starting our tour in front of the closed museum. Sadly, it will be closed for the whole week due to an internal event. BTW: we are dad Robert & son Aleks. We left our car at the Stuttgart Airport (€63/$70 for 8 days). The day before, Aleks had his final Matura exam. The landscape and winding valleys, narrow gorges through which the Neckar River flows is peaceful. The towns are just big enough and evenly spaced. The bike path is separated from busy roads. And very very relaxing. There are no uphills. It's made for enjoyment. In the evening, we noticed that we lost our toiletry bag somewhere along the way. I biked an additional 20 km on top of the 100 km trying to find it. Since we are driving through civilization and hygiene is not at risk, we bought new supplies the same evening and in the morning. There weren't many other cyclists. We became friends with some of them when we were overtaking each other. We added a large shopping bag to our travel gear. There weren't many water wells along the path where we could refresh ourselves and wash fruits. Most of the professions presented will soon be extinct, although we will still need them. Many times, waiters will accidentally charge for more drinks or another (more expensive) dish that you did not eat. There are 100 and 3 different ways to travel and vacation. We (still) prefer our way. It looks like an ordinary cruise, but the valley is booming with techno rhythms and the ship is swaying to the beats of the rave party. Professional printing machines also have the same name. We skipped a part of the dull (60 km) path between Mannheim and Frankfurt Airport with a train. Even though we knew which train we were going to take, we were struggling with the ticket machine with countless options for half an hour trying to buy 4 tickets. There are no ticket counters with employees anymore. Next time, we will buy them through a simpler mobile app. The runways of the enormous Frankfurt Airport have several observation decks. Fortunately, we chose the right one where planes take off every 2-minutes. There are many new job openings, but there aren't enough people willing to work. Locked everything in and rode off. There are several bridges over the Main River. That's why we checked in advance which one offers the most picturesque view. One of us was running across the busy 4-lane road and adjusting the camera for the perfect shot. We visited a company for laying glamour floors, for who I maintain a corporate visual identity. However, they were all out of office and kindly invited us to visit them later. Until next time! After 15 years, the Google Street View car is updating the views of German roads & streets. We had to take a detour due to the fallen trees that were torn down by the devastating hurricane a few days ago. The city treasury planned a 36 million € loss in 2021. But the biotechnology company BioNTech (which one?) that is based here, increased the city's profits to 1.2 billion € tax at the end of the same year. This was the most relaxing tour in our 13-year cycling career, just for a pampered person. We were taking often breaks and always ate. There are more than 60 castles on this beautiful section of the Rhine River. This castle was built on an island because all of the suitable land was already taken. Multi-lane traffic and a low fly-by of military cargo planes a few kilometers back. Cape where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet. The statue of the first German Emperor was destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt after the East and West Germany reunited. *Aleks relived the same culinary experience as the (un)popular singer Heino had here some time ago and is now recommended on the menu for €14.20/$15.60. Bridges over the Rhine are only built in larger cities, so changing banks is enabled by frequent ferry connections. People are against ... but everyone wants a freshly painted apartment, a new phone every year, to recover and drive comfortably to work. The couple was so happy with the photo that they wanted to hire me to photograph their wedding. Enough Instagraming! Let's go for Kölsch! The newer ICE trains also have space for 8 bicycles. We returned to our starting point at 300 km/h in just over 2 hours. TV tower. Our bicycle tour cost us around €1300/$1430. When I bought the ECO sticker for driving in German cities, I thought that the saleswoman sold me one for trucks? Now the huge sticker will block my panoramic view for the rest of my life. Although we don't have an e-car (yet), we simulated a 20-minute e-rest at the largest European e-charging station with 76 e-chargers. We patiently waited while e-njoying tasty cupcakes. Instead of the Mercedes cars in Stuttgart, we stopped to look at the BMWs on our way back home to Slovenia. They are also quite decent cars. Meanwhile, the new bag is already full and Aleks passed all of his final Matura exams.
